AIC Calendar 2017
AIC Calendar 2017
The Agency for Integrated Care (AIC) is an organisation in Singapore that promotes healthy living and graceful aging. They provide post-discharge services and equip beneficiaries with information to take care of themselves.
As part of an initiative to increase awareness of AIC’s services and initiatives to the community, the organisation distributes its calendar to residents around Singapore. After working successfully together with AIC for the 2016 calendar, we once again partnered up with AIC for the 2017 edition.
The 2017 calendar was themed “Colours of Community Care”. It celebrated how AIC encouraged graceful aging through the use of arts and crafts. Hence, the calendar was designed to incorporate these elements and present a genuine portrayal of the beneficiaries’ artistic talents.
An artwork – hand-crafted by a beneficiary – was attached to each month of the calendar. The positions of the various artworks in the calendar were chosen based on the birthdays of the beneficiaries. For example, if a beneficiary’s birthday were in June, that beneficiary’s artwork would be placed next to the month of June. To acknowledge their contributions, the dates of the respective beneficiaries were circled in the calendar.
The beneficiaries used a range of objects to create these artworks, varying from paint, leaves, glitter and other day-to-day objects. To bring out the colours of each artwork, we incorporated a nostalgic but vibrant watercolour-based graphic design to their artworks. This was done to bring out the diversity of colours in each artwork.
The multitude of colours highlight the dynamic lives the seniors lead as they age gracefully, and the variety of individuals from different walks of life. A colourful transparency was used as the calendar’s title, which summed up the meaning and essence of this calendar.
With these calendars being distributed nationally, we are honoured to have played an important role in displaying the artistic talents of the elderly in Singapore and how visual arts have benefited their lives.
